Your car works hard getting you around Mountain View, Palo Alto, and the rest of the Peninsula every day — and a little routine care goes a long way toward keeping it reliable. At Level Up Auto Styling, we see the same avoidable problems come through our bay again and again, so here are five preventative maintenance habits worth building into your routine.

  1. Stick to your oil change schedule. Fresh oil keeps your engine's internal parts from grinding against each other. Skipping changes is one of the fastest ways to shorten your engine's life.
  2. Check your tires monthly. Proper tire pressure and tread depth affect your gas mileage, handling, and stopping distance. We're happy to check them for you at any visit.
  3. Don't ignore your brakes. Squealing, grinding, or a soft pedal are all early warning signs. Catching brake wear early is a lot cheaper than waiting for a rotor or caliper replacement.
  4. Replace fluids and filters on schedule. Coolant, transmission fluid, and air filters all break down over time. Old fluid can't protect your engine the way it should.
  5. Get a seasonal inspection. Bay Area weather is mild, but temperature swings still affect your battery, belts, and hoses. A quick seasonal check catches small issues before they become breakdowns.
